PSL 9: Is there any ray of hope for Lahore Qalandars to qualify for playoffs?

Defending champions Lahore Qalandars are on the verge of elimination in the ongoing ninth season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) after suffering defeats in all six of their matches.

Currently occupying the bottom spot on the points table, the two-time champions are slated to face Babar Azam's Peshawar Zalmi at the Pindi Cricket Stadium on March 2.

To remain in contention for the playoffs, Lahore must emerge victorious in all four remaining matches, accumulating a total of eight points. However, securing qualification won't be straightforward, as they also depend on favourable outcomes in other matches.

Typically, ten points are the minimum required to reach the final four, a target now out of reach for Lahore.

There have been one instance in PSL history when Islamabad United manage to held their position at fourth with eight points in the 2022 season and cemented their place in the playoffs.

Despite the challenging scenario, Lahore maintain hope as Karachi Kings, Islamabad United, and Peshawar Zalmi have not yet played six games. Potential opportunities may arise if these teams continue to face losses, but Lahore must simultaneously secure victories in their own matches. Failing to do so in their seventh game will result in their elimination from the competition.
